First\, the basic theoretical and practical concepts of electron microscopy will be introduced\, such as types of electron microscopes\, main characteristics and the information that can be obtained in each case. This will be followed by more advanced imaging and spectroscopic techniques\, which can be employed in state-of-the-art aberration corrected electron microscopes. Specific examples will be used to showcase the application of the different techniques.
